Reconstruction of the Borodianka inclusive resource center
The village of Borodianka, 35 kilometers from the Ukrainian capital, was turned into ruins after the Russian occupation. The Government of the Swiss Confederation is helping to restore the infrastructure.
Reconstruction of the local inclusive resource center is one of the ongoing recovery projects SwissHumanitarianAid Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine together with Decentralization for Improved Democratic Education та Astarta-Kyiv. The IRC has already renovated the equipment on the first floor and arranged a shelter that meets all modern requirements – specialists in inclusion and construction were involved. Together with KODA, the new windows were installed on the second floor. They had been smashed by shells exploding nearby and rocket fragments. The repair of the 2nd floor is ahead – there are many IDPs in Borodyanska community, and the percentage of children with special educational needs among preschool children is rapidly increasing. The community is in dire need of an early intervention center.

Last week Borodianska community, in particular, the IRC, visited Andrea Studer, Assistant Director General of the SDC and head of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) – Europe Division Swiss Development & Cooperation. She spoke with local authorities and familiarized herself with the work of the Communal Inclusive Resource Centre of Borodianka Community.
Today, the center provides services for more than 200 children with special educational needs. Their number is constantly growing due to the war. To provide quality services in such conditions, DECIDE project has organized a professional development program for the IRC specialists. We will tell you what kind of training it is later.
